Based on data from a study of the most popular music apps (determined by number of monthly active users), Spotify tops the list. According to the Swedish company’s latest earnings report, as of Q2 2023, it has 551 million active users, marking a 27.3% increase from the previous year. Spotify isn’t only popular among music listeners. It’s also one of the most popular podcast platforms in the United States, second only to YouTube.
