Most Popular Phone Brands in 2024 (by Shipments)
Not only is it the manufacturer with the second-largest smartphone market share worldwide, latest numbers also show that South Korean phone maker Samsung topped the list of the most popular phone brands in Q1 2024 in terms of smartphone shipments for the fourth consecutive quarter.

Top smartphone brands ranked by number of shipments
Recent data on the top smartphone brands ranked by the number of shipments shows that Samsung shipped out 60 million of its smartphone units in Q1 2024. This is a 1% drop from the total number of phone shipments it made in Q1 2023. It also makes up 20% of the global smartphone shipments market share. In other words, one out of every five smartphones delivered in Q1 2024 was manufactured by Samsung.
In second place, rival brand Apple shipped out 50.6 million smartphones in the same period, a 12.8% annual decrease and accounting for a 17% market share.
Together, Samsung and Apple’s global smartphone shipments market share total 37%, which means that nearly two out of five smartphones sent out in Q1 2024 were produced by these two companies.
Third on this list of top smartphone companies (by shipment) is Xiaomi, which shipped 40.8 million devices in Q1 2024. This represents a 33.8% year-over-year surge. It’s worth mentioning that three years ago, the company reported record revenue growth of 64% in the second quarter of the year, during which it outperformed Apple to become the second-largest smartphone manufacturer.
The fourth-most popular phone brand is Oppo, with 25.1 million shipments in Q1 2024. This marks an 11.7% decrease from the previous year’s numbers. Rounding out the list of the top smartphone brands is vivo, which shipped 21.6 million devices, a marginal 3.7% annual increase.
Of the five phone brands on this list, three increased their number of mobile shipments year on year. In total, across all brands, 296.9 million smartphones across all brands were shipped in Q1 2024, a 6% yearly increase.
Of the five most popular phone brands, four are from Asia—specifically, China and South Korea. Apple is the only non-Asian brand to feature on the list.
